Credits
McKendree University gives four general elective credit hours for Veterans
receiving an honorable discharge. A military transcript(s) and a copy of the DD214 are required. Additional credits may be given for certain military courses
and Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).
Educational Benefits
Voc Rehab - Chapter 31
Some veterans may qualify for Voc Rehab Benefits (at least 20% disability as determined by the Veterans' Administration).
Voc Rehab recipients may qualify for educational benefits including tuition, books, and supplies along with a subsistence
allowance. Tuition payments are made directly to the university eliminating prepayment of
classes or defer fees. Recipients
must be degree seeking to qualify.
Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty (MGIB) - Chapter 30
Up to 36 months of education benefits are available under this program. You usually have up to 10 years to use these
benefits following your release from active duty. You may qualify for the Montgomery GI Bill even if you previously
missed out on the benefits.
Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) - Chapter 1606
If you are a member of the Selected Reserve, you may qualify for benefits under this program. Categories for the Selected
Reserve include: Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army
National Guard, and Air National Guard.
Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) - Chapter 32
If you first entered active duty between January 1, 1977, and June 30, 1985, and you contributed to the program from
your military pay, you may qualify for VEAP. You may qualify for the Montgomery GI Bill even if you previously missed out
on the benefits.
Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program (DEA) - Chapter 35
You may be eligible for education benefits if you are a dependent of a permanently and totally disabled veteran. The
disability must be service related. Benefits are also applicable to a dependent of a veteran who died while on active
duty or as a result of the service related condition.
